Hygiene Services

We believe in excellence in dental hygiene care. We believe that every patient deserves a periodontal diagnosis and choice of appropriate treatment options.

Our goal is to help patients keep their teeth and oral health for a lifetime. To that end, we recommend treatin periodontal disease at the earliest possible time, with conservative, non-surgical treatment.

Periodontal Services

In our office, patients receive a thorough periodontal evaluation as part of their oral exam. We measure and chart to accurately determine the health of your bone and gums, the two things that hold your teeth in place.

Children and adults can develop signs and symptoms of periodontal disease, which is caused by a bacterial infection that attacks gums, ligaments and bone. Simply put, it is an infection that can result in tooth loss if not treated.

Because it is most often painless, you or your child may not be aware that you have a problem until your gums and bone are seriously affected. We may find during the examination or you or your child some of these signs and symptoms which can include:

  • Red or swollen gums
  • Gums that began to bleed easily during measuring
  • Gums that bled easily during the cleaning procedure
  • Gums that have pulled away from the teeth
  • Pus that comes our between the teeth and gums when the
  • Bad breath
  • Teeth that are loose or separating

Our office takes pride in offering the best and latest in treatment procedures for our patients. Based on what we discover at your examination, having a prophylaxis may not be enough to stabilize the health of your gums and bone. A prophylaxis is a scaling (cleaning) and polishing of your teeth done on patients in normal or good periodontal health. If we determine at your periodontal evaluation that you have periodontal disease, we will recommend that you have Periodontal Therapy.

Periodontal Therapy includes a group of services at more than one appointment designed to diagnose, treat, stabilize and control the periodontal disease process. Constant monitoring of the gums tissues through measuring and charting enables the patient to be informed of the disease at the earliest time possible so that appropriate treatment can be begun. One of our Periodontal Therapists (Hygienists) will give you more information on the range of services you may need as well as an estimate of the fees involved.
